The ceremony of the investiture of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) honour on late MKO Abiola and late Gani Fawehinmi respectively was attended by many dignitaries in the country including President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo.The ceremony of the investiture of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) honour on late MKO Abiola and late Gani Fawehinmi respectively was attended by many dignitaries in the country including President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo.
However, former heads of states,Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida were not in attendance for reasons yet undisclosed.
The two ex-presidents, Olusegun and Babangida, have tendered their apologies for failing to attend the grand and all-important event, which took place on Tuesday, June 12, in Abuja.
The national honours were given to the deceased post-humostly and received by their families.
