A fresh controversy has erupted within the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State following allegations of forgery and fraudulent use of a party member’s signature in connection with the disputed House of Representatives primary election for the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency.
In a petition dated May 18, 2026 and addressed to the Kwara State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, a party member from Jebba Ward in Moro Local Government Area, Mr. Johnson Babatunde, alleged that his signature was forged and fraudulently appended to a purported primary election result sheet circulating online and across social media platforms.

The petitioner stated that he was shocked to discover his name and an alleged forged signature on the document without his knowledge, consent, authorization, or participation.
According to the petition, the disputed document was reportedly referenced during a protest led by one Mr. Emmanuel Bello at the APC State Secretariat in Ilorin in an attempt to support the declaration of Dr. Joshua Ajani as winner of the party’s House of Representatives primary election for the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency.
“I did not sign the said result or any document relating to such purported result,” Babatunde stated in the petition.
He further denied authorizing anyone to sign on his behalf and maintained that he had no knowledge of the preparation, origin, or circulation of the document in question.
Describing the signature as “forged,” the petitioner alleged that the act was intended to mislead the public and compromise his integrity.
Babatunde also claimed that the circulation of the alleged forged document had exposed him to embarrassment, reputational damage, and public suspicion, as he had reportedly received several calls and inquiries questioning his involvement.
He consequently called on the Kwara State APC leadership to thoroughly investigate the matter, identify all persons allegedly connected to the forgery and circulation of the document, and ensure that appropriate action is taken.
The petition was copied to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
The development is the latest controversy trailing the APC primary election in the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency, which has continued to generate reactions from party stakeholders and supporters across the constituency.
