HRM King Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, the founder of OPM Church, has expressed his disappointment and frustration with ESM University in Benin Republic over the institution’s refusal to release transcripts of students.
In a post on his verified Facebook page, Apostle Chibuzor accused the university of refusing to release transcripts for students under the OPM International Scholarship program.
Recall that the Federal Ministry of Education, in a bid to crack down on the proliferation of fake degree-awarding institutions, had recently placed a ban on degree certificates obtained from universities in Benin Republic and Togo from 2017 onwards.
King Apostle Chibuzor who has been sending students on scholarships worldwide said he has never encountered a university that refuses to release transcripts. He described ESM University’s actions as “pure wickedness” and “selfishness,” stating that they don’t want to lose the OPM scholarship students, who make up 90% of the university.

The Apostle revealed that he has been searching for solutions for over 650 students affected by the FG ban stating that he has been reaching out to other universities in Nigeria to accept the students, but most require transcripts or would require the students to start from year one.
Apostle Chibuzor expressed regret for sending students to ESM University and described the experience as the worst among all the universities he has worked with. He emphasized that he uses tithes and offerings from OPM Church to fund the scholarships and is determined to find a solution for the affected students.
Subsequently HRM King Apostle Chibuzor announced a world press conference to address the issues with ESM University, Benin Republic. The conference will take place today September 13, 2024, at 4 pm at his residence 2 Greg Ogbuife Street, near Casablanca, GRA Phase 2, Port Harcourt.
According to him all television stations, radio stations, and newspaper houses are invited to attend this conference aimed at bringing attention to the plight of over 650 students affected by ESM University’s refusal to release their transcripts.

“I thought transcripts is the right of every student.
For so many days I have been asking the management of ESM UNIVERSITY to release the transcripts of there students under OPM INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP, but they has stubbornly refused. For selfish reasons they don’t want to loss OPM university scholarship students.
“By the grace of GOD, I have been sending students on scholarship all over the world and anytime I want to change the university to another university, the university always release the transcript of the students so he can use it to attend another university.
“Only ESM UNIVERSITY is the only university that has refused to release their own.
This is pure wickedness.
“All the universities I have contacted so I can move the OPM scholarship students in ESM UNIVERSITY are asking for transcripts or the students have to start from the beginning ( year one ).
“Just imagine, someone that is in final year will now start from year one because ESM UNIVERSITY refuses to release there transcripts.
“I SERIOUSLY REGRET SENDING ANYONE TO ESM UNIVERSITY, BENIN REPUBLIC.
This is the Worse experience among all the universities I have ever sent any students on OPM UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP.
“I HAVE NOT BEEN SLEEPING WELL SINCE FG BAN ALL UNIVERSITY CERTIFICATES FROM BENIN REPUBLIC .
I HAVE BEEN SEACHING FOR SOLUTION FOR THIS MORE THAN 650 STUDENTS.
EVEN DOER THIS CHILDREN ARE NOT MY DIRECT CHILDREN, BUT I THINK IT IS VERY RIGHT TO USE TITHE AND OFFERINGS FROM OPM CHURCH TO SEND THEM TO UNIVERSITY THAT WHY I STARTED REACHING OUT TO OTHER UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA IF THEY CAN ACCEPT THEM.
JUST IMAGINE AFTER GOD HAS USED ME TO GIVE THEM HOPE OF ATTENDING UNIVERSITY.
“MOST OF THEM HAS BEEN AT HOME FOR MORE THAN 5 TO 10 YEARS WITH NO HOPE OF ATTENDING UNIVERSITY BECAUSE THERE PARENTS DONT HAVE MONEY TO SEND THEM TO UNIVERSITY.
AND GOD USED OPM CHURCH TO WIPE AWAY THERE TEARS AND SUDDENLY ESM UNIVERSITY DECIDED TO FRUSTRATE THEM BY REFUSING TO RELEASE THERE TRANSCRIPTS BECAUSE OPM SCHOLARSHIP STUDENT MAKE UP 90% OF THE UNIVERSITY. AND THEY DONT
WANT TO LOSS THEM.
THIS IS SELFISHNESS.”
