Gregory University Uturu (GUU) has secured full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for its Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) and other programmes assessed in the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a statement by public affairs analyst Sleek Ogbo-Ogwo, the accreditation is contained in the NUC accreditation results for the 2025/2026 exercise.
The accredited programmes include MBBS, Pharm.D, BNSc Nursing, Optometry, Engineering, Law, and all Management and Social Sciences programmes.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Cele U. Njoku, said the development confirms the university’s growth into a comprehensive centre for professional education.
“This confirms GUU is now a complete destination for professional education. We are producing doctors, pharmacists, nurses, optometrists, engineers, lawyers, and business leaders who will compete globally,” Njoku said.
Chancellor, Sir Gregory Iyke Ibe Jnr, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to sustaining world-class learning facilities.
The university disclosed that its College of Medicine and Health Sciences was admitted into the Association of Medical Schools in Africa (AMSA) on March 28, 2026.
In August 2026, 500-level student, Enukora Lucky, represented Nigeria at the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) General Assembly in Kazakhstan. He was the only delegate from a private university and the only one from the South East.
The institution also said it is constructing a 1,000-bed teaching hospital at Ezinnachi, which is nearing completion, to support clinical training, research and healthcare delivery.
Admissions into the fully accredited programmes are ongoing.
