Ms. Gladys Linus, popularly known as Glad Unique, has regained her freedom following legal steps taken after concerns about her detention were raised during Governor Alex Otti’s recent media chat.
Recall that the Governor, upon being informed of her detention, directed the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna, SAN, to examine the circumstances surrounding her arrest, arraignment and remand at the Aba Correctional Centre.

Following the Governor’s intervention, an application for bail was filed before the High Court of Abia State by her legal counsel, seeking her release in accordance with the law. Glad Unique has now been released from custody.
Her release brings an end to her immediate detention and underscores the importance of access to justice and respect for due process in the administration of criminal justice.
Our justice system must always remain a fountain of justice, not an instrument of persecution.
