The students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye have been deceived into commercial farming by a lecturer under the guise of a course with the title *’Mechanized farming’.*

The lecturer in charge, one Mr. Bada ushers students into the hard labour of farming under the horrid desert-like temperature of the school. The lecturer who forces, beats, curses, and intimidates students into this act has to the umpteenth time been questioned about the correlation of the course title, Mechanised Farming, with farming with primitive tools (hoes, cutlass etc).

3 Black Axe Cultists Remanded In Ile Ife Over Secret Cult Membership

 An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered the remand of three persons- Omidiran Abayomi, 24; Arowolo Olayemi, 18, and Ademola Elijah, 21, in prison over alleged membership of secret cult.

The plea of the accused was not taken, while Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, asked the defence counsel, Mrs Olubunmi Salawu, to come up with written application for bail.

Ijiyode also ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the case file forwarded to the State Ministry of Justice and ordered the remand of the accused persons.

The case was adjourned till March 23 for hearing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Abdullahi had alleged that the defendants committed the offences on Sept. 28, 2016, at about 12:30 a.m. at Oke-Atan Area in Ile-Ife.

Abdullahi said that the accused persons conspired within themselves to commit felony to wit: housebreaking, stealing and paraded themselves as members of the black axe secret cult. (more…)

Police parade teachers, 16 others

Eighteen suspected criminals among them two teachers were yesterday paraded by Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2, AIG Kayode Aderanti at the Onikan zonal headquarters, Lagos.

The suspects were involved in  robberies, defilement and stealing.

Aderanti said the Zone 2 ‘X’ Squad on January 10 arrested Stanley Akanno and Olakunle Hassan, both teachers in a private primary school in Amuwo Odofin for serially defiling their six-year-old female pupil.

The teachers, he said, during extra mural classes, showed pornography on their laptop to the pupil and made her practice same on them.

“The pupil has been taken to a government hospital where it was medically established that she had been deflowered. The suspects will soon be charged to court,” Aderanti said.

Adams Jiddah and Emeka Okeke were arrested for robbery and stealing a Toyota Corolla. A locally made revolver pistol used by them was also recovered.

A fatal accident that happened around 2:03am this morning in Lagos terminated the life of a Nigerian woman returning to the United States after a long vacation in Nigeria.

The deceased whose identity is yet to be revealed was heading to the airport to catch an early morning flight when her driver ran into a fully loaded granite trailer with registration# EKY668XL.

Lagos State Emergency Management spokesman, Kehinde Adebayo revealed that over-speeding on the part of the Camry driver caused the fatal collision that happened at Stadium Bus stop in Surulere Lagos.

Two in court for allegedly stealing from Mr Biggs

Sunday, who resides at Ifo, in Ogun and Fatima, who resides at Bello Street,  Agbado- Crossing, Ogun, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges of  conspiracy and stealing brought against them.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Babaji Ishaku, told the court that the accused committed the offences between January and December 2016, at Mr Biggs outlet at Cement in Dopemu, Lagos.

Banker fined N0.1m for alleged rape of girlfriend’s housemaid

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday admitted a 35-year-old banker, Adedoyin Odukoya, to bail in the sum of N500, 000 for allegedly raping his girlfriend’s 19- year-old housemaid.

Odukoya, who resides at Ketu, Lagos, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of rape.

Magistrate Y.R Pinheiro, who gave the ruling, ordered the accused to produce two sureties in like sum.

Pinheiro said the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Mathew Akhaluode, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 9, 2016 at Olayinwola Str., Agege, Ikeja.

A Navy officer, Omojoye Ayodele, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife, Mary Egbailo.We gathered that Ayodele on Tuesday allegedly beat up the victim till she gave up the ghost at their house on Eze Anthony Street, in the Igando, Alimosho area of the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the 30-year-old suspect had gone to bring back the wife from the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in the area, where she was said to have been since Sunday.

The suspect, Samson Onome reportedly intervened in a domestic dispute involving his victim, Wale Badejo and some gamblers at a lotto shop but all his effort to get the victim to calm down failed.

He reportedly engaged his victim in a physical fight which involved exchange of blows.

Samson later gave up the fight and fled for his dear life but the victim pursued after him.
