The woes of the embattled governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha seems to be compounding by the seconds as aggrieved members of the state House of Assembly have reportedly vowed to proceed with the impeachment move against the governor.
Igbere Tv checks reveal that the plot to Impeach the governor took another new dimension last night as the Lawmakers concluded Arrangements to proceed irrespective of pockets of resistance from Okorocha’s loyalists in the house.
A list sighted by IGBERE TV of lawmakers bent of removing the Governor confirms that this move cuts across political divide.
.
According to our impeccable Assembly source, the lawmakers willing to proceed with the impeachment includes: Nwangele Representative, Owerri Municipal, Owerri North, Ọrụ East, Ideato North, Ngor Okpoala, Aboh, Ezinihite, Ahiazu, Isu, Njaba, Owerri West, Orsu, Oguta, Ohaji/Égbèma, Ehime Mbanọ., Orlu., Ideato South.
Meanwhile, Some Lawmakers, according to another source, have called for caution in proceeding with the move, saying the original plan was not to impeach the governor, but to grab more attention.
They say it is not necessarily an Impeachment but a way to get their share of Politics windfall.
According to a Source who pleaded anonymity, “the Governor is nearing the end of his Tenure, I wouldn’t call this an Impeachment move, but I know some are meeting and strategizing. Don’t forget most are not returning to the Assembly as most have either lost the primary or not in same ship as the governor. So, taking any move now would help salvage our Political life…”
“The All Progressives Congress doesn’t want to give us tickets, our Preferred Governorship Candidate Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has been denied the Ticket, so, we are left with no option than to see if we can get anything from the party and the state government before the end of this Government.”
The Lawmakers not the list however vowed to fight anybody dreaming of Impeaching Okorocha as they insisted that the governor has performed above average to be so “shamelesslyhumiliated.”
