Benjamin Kalu: “Why Ikpeazu is Jittery Over Uche Ogah’s Emergence”
These are not the best times for Governor Ikpeazu if Abia states as most popular House of Representatives hopeful for Bende federal constituency, Barr. Benjamin Kalu says the emergence of Dr. Uche Ogah as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, means the party is on track to takeover the government of the state in 2019.
Speaking with journalists at the party secretariat in Umuahia after Ogah was declared winner of the primaries, Kalu attributed his win to hardworking and proper preparation.
“He worked hard to emerge the flagbearer of the party, he was in the field, tilling and the APC members embraced him when they met him, the membership base increased. He was daily convincing the masses on the reason to give Abia state a new brand of leadership that does not understand zoning. He became a universal candidate.
Many thought that he would not do well in the Ngwa local governments but Abians proved that they’re going beyond zoning and will prove at the elections again that they’re going beyond party,” he said.
The renowned philanthropist applauded the conduct of the exercise, describing it as a “job well done as this is the first time the party is using direct primaries to do selection of our gubernatorial candidate and the people embraced it.
The model was very simple. There was no violence, malpractices, and rest of them recorded in any part of the state. The results are a true reflection of the mindset of the people. The security agencies did very well.”
Ben Kalu also assured Abians that with the crop of young persons aspiring for election into the state and national assemblies, “a breed of new politicians laden with fresh ideas will work with the incoming government in collaboration with the federal government to give the best of governance to the people of Abia State come 2019.”
