A Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of a teenager handset repairer Terhile Torkuma, who allegedly raped a 15-year-old.
Torkuma, 19, was charged with conspiracy, abduction and rape punishable under Sections 97, 274 and 284 of the Penal Code, Laws of Benue, 2004.
The accused hails from Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue.
The prosecutor, Insp. Hyacinth Gbakor, had submitted that Torkuma conspired with three others to abduct and rape the teenage girl while she was on her way to market.
Gbakor said that the incidents occurred on January 5.
He told the court that the rape victim was going to the Katsina-Ala Market to buy zips for sewing.
The prosecutor said that the teenage girl was found unconscious the following day near a river.
