Spanish football executive Josep Gené Garcia has withdrawn from a proposed collaboration with Wikki Tourists FC, saying he received no formal response to his plans for the Bauchi-based club.

In a press statement sent directly to Yaro Insider on October 28, Gené said he had decided to end the proposed collaboration after efforts to obtain clarification about the professional arrangements and implementation plan yielded no clear response.

Gené, founder and chairman of 2BPRO SPORTS, said he travelled from Spain to Bauchi following an invitation to contribute to the development of Wikki Tourists.
His proposed plan included developing young players, bringing Spanish coaches to work with Nigerian coaches, establishing international partnerships and generating revenue through professional player transfers.
He said the revenue would be reinvested in youth development, infrastructure and the club’s long-term future.
According to Gené, photographs of his visit were published on Wikki Tourists’ official social media pages on September 15, creating expectations among supporters and the wider football community.
However, he claimed that by October 27, he had received no formal response concerning his implementation plan or proposed professional agreements.
Gené said he had therefore decided to withdraw and asked that his name and image no longer be presented as representing an ongoing appointment or partnership with the club.
He also stressed that his decision was not directed at the Bauchi State Government. He thanked the governor, deputy governor, sports commissioner, club personnel and residents for their hospitality.
Gené said he remained open to discussions with the state government on broader sports development opportunities.
He praised Wikki Tourists supporters for their passion and expressed hope that the club would achieve promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Yaro Insider could not establish from the statement alone whether a formal agreement had been reached or why the proposed collaboration did not proceed. The club and the other individuals named in the statement should be given an opportunity to respond.
The development raises questions about the status of the proposed international partnership and whether the plan had progressed beyond initial discussions and public announcements.
