A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Sola Ajimati, has formally obtained the party’s Senatorial Expression of Interest and Nomination Form, signaling his intention to contest the Kwara South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Ajimati picked up the nomination form at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Sheraton Hotel in Abuja, describing his decision as a response to growing calls for a new generation of leadership in the district.

The aspirant said his ambition is anchored on a people-focused development agenda aimed at addressing key socio-economic challenges in Kwara South. He outlined priority areas to include community security, youth employment, women empowerment, agricultural support, and rural infrastructure development.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the form, Ajimati emphasized the need for what he described as “bold, inclusive, and action-driven leadership.”
“The time has come for a new kind of leadership bold, inclusive, and action-driven. Our people deserve safety, opportunity, and prosperity.
This is our moment,” he said.
Ajimati, who has a background in engineering and enterprise, noted that his experience in youth mobilization and development initiatives positions him to effectively represent the interests of the district at the National Assembly.
He also highlighted his role as an African Union (AU) Youth Ambassador and Pan-Continental Diplomat, stating that he intends to leverage international networks to attract investments and foster sustainable development in Kwara South.
Political observers note that his declaration has begun to generate attention across the seven local government areas in the senatorial district, particularly among young people seeking increased political inclusion.
Ajimati maintained that his campaign, tagged “Ajimati4Senate 2027,” is focused on delivering tangible outcomes rather than rhetoric.
“Our goal is to build a future where communities are secure, young people have opportunities to thrive, women are empowered, and farmers are supported to succeed,” he added.
The APC is expected to commence its internal processes ahead of the 2027 elections, with several aspirants likely to emerge across various constituencies.
Ajimati’s entry into the race is seen as part of a broader shift toward youth participation in Nigeria’s political landscape.
