Two Nigerians Arrested In Thailand For Allegedly Smuggling Cocaine

Two Nigerian men were detained in Bangkok after being accused in drug trafficking by a lady who was apprehended trying to bring cocaine into Japan.

After being determined to be overstayers, both guys are being looked into for possible drug offenses and will be charged with immigration right away.

Deputy Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau Pol Maj Gen Phanthana Nuchanart said on Wednesday that Ihejimba Bright Chimezie and Azubuike Chdiebere David were taken into custody after immigration and drug control officers raided a condominium room on Navamin-Ram Intra road in Kannayao district on Tuesday.

They were turned over to immigration officials for prompt legal action after being first accused of overstaying their visas.

A Thai woman was previously detained by Japanese authorities for attempting to smuggle cocaine into Japan by ingesting 59 little packets, totaling almost 700 kilos.

According to Pol Maj Gen Phanthana, the cocaine was valued at roughly 2.1 million baht. The woman admitted to detectives that she had dated one of two alleged drug-using Nigerian men in Bangkok.

Thai authorities were contacted by Japanese officials for assistance, and after following the men to the condominium flat, they were apprehended, according to Pol Maj Gen Phanthana.

The inquiry is still ongoing.
