In a significant stride towards infrastructural development, the 1.3km Usung Obo road in Ikot Akpa Edet, Ndiya in Ikono Local Government Area has been commissioned. The project, inaugurated earlier today, features a dual drainage system to prevent flooding and solar-powered streetlights to enhance safety and accessibility at night.
This project, facilitated by Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, the member representing Ikono-Ini Federal Constituency, was officially commissioned by Air Vice Marshal Sampson Akpasa (Rtd) and reflects the legislator’s commitment to improving the quality of life for his constituents through sustainable and impactful projects.
Speaking during the ceremony, Rep. Ukpong-Udo highlighted the importance of the road in boosting connectivity and economic activities in the area. He reiterated his dedication to addressing the pressing developmental needs of the constituency. Paramount Rulers in the constituency, Community leaders and residents of the area, expressed their gratitude, describing the project as a transformative addition that will facilitate movement, improve trade, and enhance security.
The commissioning of the Usung Obo road comes on the heels of other notable interventions by Rep. Ukpong-Udo, including the disbursement of ₦250 million in empowerment funds to his constituents and the commissioning of a newly constructed classroom block at St. Mary’s Secondary School, Ikot Nseyen Nkwo. These initiatives are further expressions of the lawmaker’s focus on fostering infrastructure, education, and economic empowerment in Ikono-Ini Federal Constituency.
