Umuahia, Abia State – Governor Dr. Alex Otti has strongly condemned the brutal murder of a couple, Mr. Jacob Udo and his wife Mrs. Comfort Udo, in Bende Local Government Area.
The couple was beheaded and dismembered by unidentified assailants. Governor Otti directed security agencies to thoroughly investigate and apprehend the perpetrators.
“I am personally pained by such criminal and dastardly act,” Governor Otti said in a statement on Friday signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha
“I have directed the security agencies in the State to thoroughly investigate and bring the culprits to book,” Governor Otti stated.
He commiserated with the family of the victims, assuring that the government is working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“On behalf of the Government of Abia State, I commiserate with the family of the victims and assure that the Government is working round the clock to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice,” Governor Otti said.
Additionally, Governor Otti directed government officials to provide interim assistance to the dependants of the victims.
The statement reads in part
“The Executive Governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Otti is saddened with the tragic news of the beheading of a couple in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.
“The victims Mr. Jacob Udo and his wife Mrs. Comfort Udo were murdered and dismembered by yet to be identified assailants.
“Governor Otti is personally pained by such criminal and dastardly act and has directed the security agencies in the State to thoroughly investigate and bring the culprits to book.
“The Governor on behalf of the Government of Abia State commiserates with the family of the victims and assures that the Government is working round the clock to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice.
He has also directed government officials to see how the dependants can be assisted in the interim.”
