Peter Obi Effect? Lamidi Apapa, From 300 Votes To 18,000 Votes

So it will surprise you to know that lamidi apapa was the senatorial candidate for Oyo central in 2019 and 2023.

 

In 2019 , he had 308 votes while Teslim Folarin had 91,000 votes to emerge winner.

Four years later , in the 2023 senatorial elections, Lamidi amassed a massive 18,000 votes against the 108,000 scored by the winner Akintunde Yunus .

 

 

The question is why is Lamidi going aggressively against the party who boosted his chances at the recently concluded elections?

 

An almost 6,000% improvement (300 votes to 18,000 votes) in his senatorial candidacy performance in the recently concluded elections.

Apapa and five others, on April 6, 2023, took over the affairs of the party following the ruling of a Federal High Court which restrained Julius Abure from parading himself as the chairman of the party.

Subsequently the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Labour Party suspended Lamidi Apapa and five others.

Apapa and the other affected members were suspended over alleged anti-party activities which were not specified.

Apart from Apapa, the other affected members are Alhaji Saleh Lawal, Deputy National Secretary; Rawland Daramola, National Financial Secretary; Prince Reuben Favour, National Vice-Chairman, South-South; Samuel Akingbade, National Legal Adviser and Mohammed Akali,
