Mother And Little Daughter Die After Sleeping With Generator In Enugu

IgbereTV reports that a 32-year-old woman, Ifeoma Nwachukwu, and her two-year-old daughter, Chimuanya Nwachukwu, has died from what appears to be carbon monoxide poisoning, after sleeping with a generator in their sitting room in Enugu.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, Ndukwe Daniel, says late Ifeoma and her daughter went to bed on September 3 and by the next day, September 4, failed to wake up.

Ndukwe said upon receiving the report, operatives of the Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Henry Chijioke Imo, visited the scene of the incident. He said preliminary investigation showed that the deceased and her husband, one Joshua Nwachukwu, four children, and their two male visitors all slept in the same room after taking Spaghetti for dinner with a Generator said to be switched on in their sitting room.

Ndukwe said the husband of the deceased, alongside three others, have been arrested alongside one Nnamani Nkiruka (female) and the Mortician, Victor Onoh (male) in connection with the case, which has been transferred to the State CID for a discreet investigation to unravel the cause(s) of their death.

The spokesperson added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman, has directed a full-scale investigation into the matter while appealing residents of the State to promptly report criminal cases to the Police rather than resorting to self-help in matters requiring thorough Police investigation.
