Easter: Gregory University Chancellor, Prof. Ibe Felicitates With Christians

The Chancellor of Gregory University Uturu, in Abia state, Prof. Gregory Ibe, has felicitated with the people of Abia and Christians around the world, on the occasion of Easter celebration.

In a statement made available to Igbere TV on Sunday, Prof. Ibe enjoined Christians to remain resolute, unshaken and faithful to God in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, stating that the plague will not tarry forever.

“It is in the light of the tragic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on humanity in general, that I urge all Christians continue to draw strength from our Saviour, Jesus Christ, who in spite of multiple betrayals, persecutions and physical assault, still believed and trusted God,” he said.

“Let us therefore be encouraged by the unique example of our Lord, Jesus Christ, who overcame many battles to obtain eternal victory, knowing of certainty that this plague shall also pass.”

Prof. Ibe, therefore, advised Christians around the globe to use this year’s Easter celebration to intercede for God’s intervention “in the light of the biblical injunction that enjoins those called by the name of the Lord to humble themselves and pray, stating that God will surely hear from above and subsequently heal the earth like He promised.”

“Just as Jesus overcame the power of death, it is my earnest prayer that this Easter will usher Abians into our season of resounding victory over the multiple challenges of life, even as I pledge to sustain our existing partnership with government in offering various relief palliatives to our people as the Lord continues to provide both life and resources,” the Chancellor added.

Gregory University has been leading the fight against COVID-19 in Abia state. Igbere TV recalls that the Chancellor recently donated 850 bags of rice, 3 ambulances to the Abia State Government.

The donations which were meant to complement government’s efforts, were received by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Osuji and other members of the State COVID-19 Task Force.
