Senator Shehu Sani, the former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has raised alarm over persecution of musicians in the Northern part of the country, Igbere TV reports.
Mr Shehu Sani raised the alarm in a tweet on Monday, September 16.
According to him, musicians & artists in the region who criticize bad Governance or question authorities in their songs in Hausa are being prosecuted by the government.

“There is a growing trend of persecution of Musicians & artists in the north who used their songs in Hausa to criticize bad Governance or question authorities;and those who sings praises of power & defame the opposition are patronized & glorified.
This stands condemned.”This is coming days after a Singer, Nazir Ahmad, popularly called Sarkin Wakan Kano, has been arrested for allegedly releasing two uncensored musical albums and operating an illegal studio.
The albums, which were released about three years ago, were said to have violated some provisions of the state censorship board laws.
Igbere TV gathers that in the said albums titled Gidan Sarauta and Sai Hakuri, the singer was said to have openly criticized the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
