PROFILE OF CHIDOZIE WILSON NWANKWO – CHAIRMAN WICHTECH GROUP OF COMPANIES
Dr Chidozie Nwankwo was born in Oko, Anambra State over 53 years ago. He is a graduate of Building Services Engineering from Greenhills University, Denmark. He also bagged a Federal Craft Certificate in Building Technology from GTC Onitsha. Dr Nwankwo also studied Building Technology in City and Guilds, London. In his pursuit for self development, he earned many professional crectifications both in Europe and the United States of America. He was awarded an honorary PhD from Green Hills (University of Denmark) in April 2013 for Leadership, Community Development and International Relations. He was also a recipient of another Honorary Doctorate degree in December 2015 from Commonwealth University Belize.
Dr Nwankwo ventured into business in 1985. He formed Chido Business Ventures in 1986, which later became a limited company in 1992. This Company majored in distributing glass sheets and other building materials throughout Nigeria. Chido Business was a major marketing partner of Oluwa Glass Company, Ondo State, between 1991-1994. It won an award as the outstanding distributor of Oluwa Glass, which was awarded by the German administrator, Dr Lordloy.
In 1995, Chidozie Nwankwo formed Wichtech Industries Ltd. This company enriches the lives of its clients by making available specialised building products, and making sure that residential homes are turned into conducive palaces by its firm qualities of quality, integrity and aesthetic resonance. It has been rated as one of the leading companies providing quality and durable building products in Nigeria today.
Today he is the chairman of Wichtech Group of Companies with reputable subsidiaries among which are:
Wichtech Industries Ltd; one of the fast growing arms of the firm, has over 160 offices in Nigeria and in two other African countries. The firm has built a reputation for distributing specialized quality building products such as stone coated roofing sheets (Gerard products) from Fletcher Building Ltd, IPS plumbing solutions and Betek paints.
Wichtech Homes; Is involved in developing residential homes and infrastructures within Estates. Wichtech Homes has deployed in expertise and sense of panache in Ikoyi, Lagos and Abuja.
Due to his philanthropic disposition, Dr Nwankwo established the Kingdom Care Foundation, a non-profit making, non-governmental organization (NGO) that organises poverty alleviation programmes, offers scholarships and assists in funding for missionary activities, supporting orphans and widows in the rural landscape of Nigeria. The foundation has recorded the immense progress since its inception 30 years ago;
Over 10,000 widows have been assisted financially.
Over 300 students have received scholarship awards, from secondary up to tertiary level in the last 10 years.
In Northern Nigeria, over 600 families have been funded to start small businesses
Over 30 Missionary crusades have been organised and sponsored over the years.
Provision of financial support for medical outreaches across Nigeria.
In all, over 100,000 families have been supported by the activities of the foundation.
Dr Nwankwo is married and blessed with Children.
