Nigerians have called for the President of African Development Bank (AfD), Akinwumi Adesina, to contest for the 2023 presidency after his appearance at G7 Summit session which held on August 24 to 26 in Biarritz, France.
Mr Adesina presented the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) initiative to the press, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.
The pan-African AFAWA initiative was launched in May 2016 at the annual meetings of the AfD, held in Lusaka, Zambia.
According to a statement by the bank, the initiative has the twin objectives of bridging the funding gap faced by women in Africa and of liberating women’s entrepreneurship capacity.
Nigerians on Twitter have hailed Adesina on his appearance with world leaders, admonishing him to run for the presidency in 2023.
