The production centre boast of constant electricity, good road network, security, solar powered street lights and other business support services so as to boost capacity to produce at scale, create more jobs and deepen industrialisation.
At an optimal level, the centre would host over 200 Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) involved in fabrication, furniture making, printing and polythene production and a number of other interested small business owners.
A welder who operates from the centre applauded the State government saying all the conceptualisation for his designs has suddenly become a reality for him, he noted that the constant electricity supply has assisted him and others in eliminating the high cost of production as well as meeting up to target for delivery.
Jude Ogieva a furniture maker at the production centre thanked the State Government for opening up the State for industrialization, ‘what the Government has done is indeed a first of its kind since the creation of the State, with the cluster of small manufacturers and steady electricity our businesses have witnessed tremendous expansion.
We not only do have the enabling environment to work the security and support from governmental agencies has really impacted on our efficiency and skills precision, but Governor Obaseki should also be commended for keeping up to his promise in providing jobs and industrializing the state”
In the same vein an elder statesman, Rtd. Col. Paul Ogbebor, has commended Godwin Obaseki for the laudable initiative of constructing production centres across the State saying it is a right step in industrializing the State.
According to him, “In the Magistrate Court area along Sapele Road, I saw exactly what I knew of when I was in India. I was Deputy Military Attache to the Embassy in India in 1984. Over there, I saw what they called a business colony, where the government put up buildings and they installed machines that people go to hire and use for production. It is not everybody that has the money to purchase heavy equipment, but people have ideas they want to work on.
“All that the people in India needed to do was to go there to produce goods. These small production clusters are what are aggregated and transformed into big industries. With these business colonies, India became a world-leading industrial hub that is celebrated today.
He commended the Governor Obaseki-led government for ensuring that such an initiative is brought to life and that necessary infrastructure are provided to see to its smooth operation.
According to the State government, additional 2 production centres are currently constructed in Edo North and Edo Central, to stimulate inclusive growth across the state.
