JUST IN: Shock As Borno Governor Finds State Hospital Empty On Unscheduled Midnight Inspection

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Tuesday met no doctors on duty during unscheduled visits to some hospitals in Maiduguri, the state capital.

A government official said Zulum was shocked not to have found a medical doctor on duty around 1 am at Umaru Shehu Ultra-Modern Hospital.

“When the governor made a phone call to about 10 doctors on duty to ask why they were absent, none picked the calls,” the official said.

The hospital with about 135 medical staff only had 10 nurses on duty, while the 19 resident doctors were nowhere to be found.

Zulum was said to have found a few doctors when he visited the state specialists’ hospital around 2 am.

The chief medical director of Umaru Shehu Ultra-Modern Hospital was reportedly queried over the absence of doctors on duty.

Zulum had on his inauguration on May 29 vowed to carry out reforms in the state civil service.

After his inauguration, he embarked on a tour of the state secretariat and met three out of 12,000 workers on duty.

“I came to the secretariat at about 8:30 am, the secretariat contains almost 12,000 staff unfortunately not more than 3 staff were on ground, at about 9:45 am only 135 resumed office,” Zulum had said.
