Let’s Embrace the Strength in Our Diversity - Kalu Charges Nigerians

Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has called for unity of the country, Igbere TV reports.

He warned against compromising Nigeria’s unity, saying the county’s greatness lies in its diversity and population.

Kalu gave the warning over the weekend when he played host to members of his constituency in his Igbere country home.

Igbere TV reports that the two-time governor had on Saturday, organized a victory thank you party in honour of his constituents, who elected him as their senator in the last general election.

Kalu said, “The country is only great because of its diversity. The reason why the country is great is because of its diversity. It is because we have here people of every race, people of every tribe, bringing in their different cultures and strengths. All the things that make each one of our ethnic groups great come together in one country.

“Every one of our ethnic groups needs the support of the other. When people speak of Nigeria, and respect this country, it is because of the diversity, it is because of the strength in the numbers that we are considered great. That is why the whole of Africa looks to us for direction. If we were one small enclave nobody will look at us with the seriousness they look at us today.

“And so unity is absolutely important, we must be prepared to work with every other ethnic group and be united.”

He described Ndigbo as the salt of the Nigerian nation and urged the people to come together and show their strength.

Senator Kalu used the opportunity to advise South Easterners to register for political purposes, noting “we are the salt of the nation and have the strength to turn the tide. We only need to come together”.

“We can face challenges today and tomorrow but must not leave our tomorrow in the hands of others,” he warned.

He described himself as not a Senator of Abia North but of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, assuring his constituents that he will come back to thank them through town hall meetings.

The Forbes-rated billionaire pledged to provide quality representation to his constituency as well as make consultation of his constituents a priority throughout his tenure.
