In what will come across as a shocking development, some kids have been shot at in broad daylight.
A 10-year-old boy identified as Kutloano Rapolai has been hit by a man’s bullet.
According to Daily Sun SA, Rapolai and his friends were just being naughty, like all boys their age when the incident occurred.
For the past few months, every evening at about 7pm, they would wait for a Star Line bus at a corner in block R, Soshanguve, Tshwane, South Africa and grab hold to have a ride on the bus.
But on Friday their fun brought Kutloano close to his death. The angry bus driver allegedly pulled out a gun and opened fire on them!
Daily Sun SA reports that the boys scattered and ran for their lives and Kutloano felt a bullet rip through his body.
His mum, Tsholofelo Rapolai (27), said she was at home preparing dinner when her son’s screaming friends arrived, dragging him along.
The kids told her how the bus driver fired four shots as they fled, one of which hit Kutloano in the back. She rushed her son to hospital where it was found that the bullet luckily went through his body without causing much damage.
Tsholofelo said the man was arrested after he handed himself over at Rietgat Police Station. He was supposed to appear in court yesterday but didn’t.
“I know he was in the holding cells in Soshanguve. I waited in court but he did not appear before the magistrate. I was shocked when I saw him walking out a free man,” she said.
A manager at Star Line, Bennett Ditshego, said he couldn’t comment as the matter was in the hands of the police and the court.
Constable Herman Moremi told Daily Sun: “The suspect was arrested and his firearm was seized. The matter is still under investigation.”
