2019: Nsit Atai Insists on Udom, Lampoons Akpabio Over 8 Years Marginalisation (Photos)

The people of Nsit Atai local government area today reaffirmed their support for the second term aspiration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

They maintained that with what the governor has done for them in the last three and a half years especially political inclusion, they’ll reciprocate the gesture by voting massively to ensure his victory on March 2nd.

The people who came out in their numbers made their position known when the campaign train of the governor landed at Methodist Primary School, Odot in Nsit Atai LGA.

Speaking at the rally, member representing the area in the House of Assembly, Hon. Mark Esset, said the people are thankful to the governor for giving the people of Nsit Atai a sense of belonging especially in appointments. In his words: “Nsit Atai owes you for the appointments; more than 5 SAs and numerous others. We shall come out on February 16 and March 2ndc, 2019 to pay our debt to you by giving you the totality of our votes.”

He bemoaned the ongoing ASUU strike in the country, noting that students will revolt against the current administration by voting massively for PDP and Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking earlier, the Chapter Chairman of Nsit Atai LGA, Mr. Chrysantus Okon, noted that they had long concluded what he described as evangelism for the re-election of Governor Emmanuel. He said that Nsit Atai is like a religion in the area, adding that for the industries built by the governor and appointments of Nsit Atai sons/daughters into sensitive positions, they’ll vote for all PDP candidates.

Hear him: “We’ll leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all five PDP candidates are delivered.” He thanked the PDP for conducting a free and transparent primaries that led to the emergence of what his described as best candidates for the elections.

On his part, the political leader of Nsit Atai, Otuekong Raphael Bassey, said that the victory of PDP in the area is a done deal. He stressed that Nsit Atai has never had it this good. He commended Governor Emmanuel for changing the past narrative in Nsit Atai where the people were relegated to the background especially during the last administration.

According to him, “For eight years in the last administration, we had no road and no appointment in Nsit Atai. When we had a town hall meeting, I shouted that we were neglected in many areas, but nobody gave me a listening ear. But today, you’ve redeemed Nsit Atai of their past battered image.”

The Chairman of Nsit Atai LGA, Lady Emem Ibanga, said they’ll continue to keep the flag of the party flying in the area. She hailed the governor’s wife for providing money for women to support their businesses, adding that the women have resolved to work for the victory of Governor Emmanuel and all PDP candidates in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the youths, Mr. Sunday David described Nsit Atai as the land of PDP. He noted that Nsit Atai will “be first in this Senatorial district to deliver PDP.”

Speaking further, he said “there’s no shaking in Nsit Atai. The unit belongs to us and we’ll speak to our units and our units will answer us. We’ll deliver bloc votes for PDP.”

Speaking on behalf of the women, Mrs. Noble Paul commended the governor for ensuring food sufficiency in the state, noting that food is no longer a problem for women in the area. She also hailed the governor for ensuring that unqualified teachers were not allowed to teach Akwa Ibom children. She pledged the readiness of women to remain under the cover of umbrella, adding that they’ll not embrace broom because they are not slaves.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Governor Emmanuel assured the people that better days are ahead for them. He said he’ll do more for the people when reelected, adding that he’ll build a modern market in Nsit Atai.

He announced that the contract for the construction of Ekpene Ukim/Ikot Asua road leading to the airport has been revoked due to shabby job, saying that the road will be rewarded and the proper thing done.

The governor called on the youths of the area to resist what he termed as illegal arrest of sons/daughters of Nsit Atai, pointing out that nobody has ordered for the arrest of anyone. He stressed that any plot to arrest anybody in Nsit Atai is illegal.

Other speakers at the rally were Senator Bassey Albert, Hon. Mike Enyong, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga and Mr. Paul Ekpo. In their separate speeches, they canvassed support for PDP candidates at all levels, urging the people to ensure the peace being enjoyed in the state is sustained by voting for Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Leading APC defectors into PDP, Ezekiel Francis urged Akwa Ibom people to vote for Governor Emmanuel whom he said, among other things, has brought peace to the state.
