Murder Suspect, Others Defect to APC at Ukanafun After Allegedly Killing Council Secretary (Photos)

A murder suspect, standing trial in Ukanafun for the murder of a former local government secretary, Hon.Barr. Abasiono Udomfu Friday, led four other members of the PDP to announce his defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Igbere Tv reports.

The event was an APC Rally in Ukanafun attended by Atuekong Don Etiebet, Bishop Sam Akpan, Hon Amadu Atai, and Obong Umana Okon Umana.

Udomfu

No chapter executive and ward executive across the area joined the defection as earlier anticipated by the APC media hirelings in the state.

The event at Ikot Akpa Nkuk showed that some names from Ukanafun sector to decamp to APC were one Nsikak Udoibe,
Barr Aniekan Akpan, Mr. Kufre Umoh Jp and Barr Israel Ideh as well as Mr.Iniobong Udoumoh.

Late Atakpa

Senator Godswill Akpabio and Obong Nsima Ekere were shattered by their poor show, and their absence at the event did not come as surprise.

Igbere Tv  reporter further disclosed that the event did not gather the required momentum largely because the bulk of the decampees were mostly peripheral members of the PDP without groundswell follower-ship at the grass root level. He also observed that the absence of Senator Akpabio and Obong Nsima Ekere created an uneasy dull mood at the event.

Barr Udomfu, was ousted as Transistion Chairman of Ukanafun, after being fingered in the murder of the local government secretary and other involvements in security infractions in the area.

He is currently out on bail and is seen to have followed his former benefactor Godswill Akpabio to APC to escape from the hammer of the law.

Akwa Ibom State Police Command had May last year announced arrest of eight persons suspected to be the killers of the late Ukanafun Local Government Council Secretary, Ime Atakpa.

The former Commissioner of Police Donald Awunar had told newsmen that all had confessed that they were sponsored by Udomfu.

Igbere Tv recalls that sacked former chairman of the LG, Abasiono Udomfu was arraigned in court for murder last year .

Atakpa was killed on April 16, 2017 by four gunmen with three motorcycles in his poultry farm at Ikot Udo Obodo village, Ukanafun.

However, Awunah said the people of Ukanafun, Etim-Ekpo and Oruk-Anam local government areas will now heave sigh of relief, as a man behind serial killings, kidnap for ransom and threat messages has been arrested.

The then police commissioner Awunah had said that prominent citizens of Ukanafun and environs had received threats of death and kidnap for ransom through GSM No: 08150657348.

Three commissioners of police had since replaced him.
