Court Adjourns Barr Ken Ahia's Case Against Abia Breaking News

Justice C.U. Okoroafor of Umuahia Vacation court has adjourned to September 10, 2018 the motion brought before it by one Barr. Ken Ahia seeking an interlocutory injunction restraining Abia Breaking News, ABN, an online media platform from further publishing what he described as any “libelous” material against him.

In opposing the application, Barr Victor Etie urged the court not to grant such application as it will amount to passing judgement, he further urged the court to dismiss/strike out and reject the application as it is incompetent and brought mala fide.

Speaking with newsmen after the adjournment, Counsel and legal adviser to Abia Breaking News, Barr Victor Etie said, “We made the court know that such an application cannot be granted but rather rejected or accelerated hearing be given.

“We also let the court know that this infringes on our fundamental human rights to freedom of speech and freedom of information as contained in the FOI Act, so we hope that the court will grant in our favour and the matter has been adjourned for 10th of September for ruling,” Barr. Etie explained.
