Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, has officially announced his defection to the All Progressive Congress (APC), Igbere TV reports.
He was issued the APC membership card by the State Chairman of the Party in Abia, Kingsley Ononogbu, on Tuesday.
The decision to switch parties came after Enyinnaya, son of Theodore Orji, a former governor of Abia State, tendered his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Monday.
In a briefing with his close supporters on Monday night, the ex-speaker cited issues within the party as the reason for his move.
