"I'll Banish Insecurity in Abia", Udensi vows; Says State Police a Recipe for Intimidation

A system consultant for International Criminal Police Organization, INTERPOL and 2019 governorship hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sir Chikwe Udensi has promised that if voted in as governor of Abia State come 2019, he will make security of the state his first line charge.

Speaking with journalists after an award and induction as Fellow and Partner of Ethical Leadership, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu state Sir Udensi pointed out that security is very paramount in every developmental activity in every locality.

He said “In Abia, you cannot talk about any economic activity without security, you cannot talk about healthcare, education, and the rest without security.

“Security is the pivot in which other developmental activities revolve. Business persons and investors are looking for condusive environments to come and make money.

“As a system consultant for Interpol, I have the tools, I have the capacity to ensure that there is adequate security in Abia state. That’s the first thing I will do”.

On the clamour for the creation of state police, the security expert insisted that it will be unfortunate to handover control of the police to state governors as it will be used as a tool for intimidation.

“As we can see at the federal level, the federal government is using the security apparatus to intimidate opponents. I have the courage to say that. The best thing to do is to handover the police to the ministry of justice as it is done all around the world, not under the control of politicians and the presidency” he said.

Sir Udensi also condemned the alleged siege of the houses of Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu in Abuja, stressing that it is totally condemnable, adding that it is wrong to use the security against what he described as percieved enemies or opposition of government.
