An associate of Dr. Alex Otti, Kenneth Ahia has slammed a suit against Abia Breaking News at an Umuahia High Court demanding among other things N500m compensation from the online media platform. The suit emanated from a sponsored advertorial from Sir Chikwe Udensi it made on June 13, 2018 with the caption “Chikwe Udensi Distances Self from Feud Between Alex Otti, Abbot’s Family”.
An associate of Dr. Alex Otti, Kenneth Ahia has slammed a suit against Abia Breaking News at an Umuahia High Court demanding among other things N500m compensation from the online media platform. The suit emanated from a sponsored advertorial from Sir Chikwe Udensi it made on June 13, 2018 with the caption “Chikwe Udensi Distances Self from Feud Between Alex Otti, Abbot’s Family”.
Ahia, who claims to be a lawyer to the late Mr. Abbot J.N Otisi Kalu, in the suit number HU/137/2018 stated that he was impugned in the publication.
Reacting to the suit, the senior political editor of ABN, Mr. Alex Enemanna said since his medium published the said sponsored advertorial from Sir Udensi, a chieftain of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State in response to scanting remarks made by the said Ahia against him over the subject matter, the management of ABN has received avalanche of threats, harassment and outright victimisation from the same Ahia, all in a bid cow the online platform.
Enemanna said it was surprising that instead of Mr. Ahia exonerating himself from the allegations of complacency and fraudulent activities against him contained in the sponsored press release by Sir Udensi over the estate of the late Abbot as published by ABN in June should resort to acts of threat and intimidation.
He emphasised that as a news conduit which the ABN is, it behoves on it to carry out its responsibility of news dissemination without fear or hindrance, stressing that its legal team had been furnished with the details of the said suit, insisting that the damming facts against Ahia in the said publication as it relates to the estate of the late Abbot and other related matters did not originate from ABN, an insidious case of making the head an escape goat in place of the messy asshole. This he said was aimed at cowing the online medium, but added it would fail.
“It is pertinent to state that Mr. Ahia’s motive is to clamp down on online media in Nigeria particularly ABN as our source informed us and this explains why he singled out ABN to be sued, leaving the news source.
“Indeed, Ahia knows we still have a dossier on him which has informed his actions ever since the last publication was made and no amount of blackmail will deter us”, Mr. Enemanna concluded.
