The aspiration of Chief Benjamin Kalu to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives is an idea whose time has come.
In the last 16years, Umunna axis(Bende North) of this constituency has enjoyed a free rein occupying this seat, it therefore makes political and moral sense to consciously and deliberately allow our brethren from ‘Ikwuishii'(Bende South) to produce the next representative.
My orientation does not accommodate rumours and so I find it difficult to believe rumours.
But let me for the sake of this discussion accept, without conceding, that Honourable Nnenna Ukeje still wants to run for a fourth term, that is after 12years of uninterrupted but unproductive, blunderladen representation. Not at all. It is unconscionable, overtly reprehensible, unacceptable and unimaginable.
As Chairman of House committee on Foreign Affairs for 8years running, on whose table all the MDGs rest, what has Bende Federal Constituency got to show for it?
After the first four years in the House, the slogan was if one didn’t do well the first time, let’s give her a second chance.
Then the quest for becoming a ranking member and thus positioned for speakership, and all that idle talks led to 12years of visionless representation.
Make no mistake about it,this party has just ended. Bende Federal Constituency is NOT the inheritance nor mortgage of any particular person or family.
One remarkable and outstanding quality of Chief Benjamin Kalu, for which the greater majority of the people are canvassing for his candidacy is his humility and track record in community service.
Chief Barr. Benjamin Kalu is eminently qualified by training and pedigree in business and politics.
It’s not just about the platform, which of course is at the centre in national politics, but also about delivery on the expectations of the populace.
Let’s join hands with well meaning people of Bende Federal Constituency to effect this change, “maka odi nma Bende ”
