The need for the security and safety of every citizen of Nigeria is the first line charge of every responsible government, while the army being a very important organ of security of every nation, Nigeria inclusive possess the right to carry out their statutory military functions of safeguarding the lives and belongings of Nigerians, however such functions must be carried out within acknowledged Nigerian and international rules of engagement with the civil public, and in high regards and paramountcy to human lives and the rights of every citizen of Nigeria.
Being an acknowledged fact that the country is passing through a trying period and the polity is charged with various forms of agitations, I would want to use this opportunity to call on the military and the Biafran agitators to show restraint in their actions and activities in order not to escalate the already charged atmosphere so as to avoid further loss of innocent lives.
I condemn in totality the military invasion of the NUJ secretariat in Umuahia as unnecessary while bringing to their notice that, even in times of war no trained soldier attacks journalists knowing the critical importance of their job to the society.
I therefore use this opportunity to sue for peace from Abia youths and most especially my constituency Ikwuano /Umuahia federal constituency, I call on them to maintain peace and calm within Ikwuano /umuahia and Abia in general for without peace we cannot develop the Ikwuano /Umuahia and Abia of our dream as no meaningful development comes under and an atmosphere of conflict and hostility.
I therefore lend my support to the government of Abia State in their efforts at making sure that peace is restored within the shortest possible time.
I urge Abians at large to be law abiding at this moment of strive and go about their normal businesses with utmost care and with Peace as the paramount substance needed to restore calm in the vicinity!
I sue for peace above all thing!
God Bless Nigeria
God bless Abia state
