Let me show you 3 things the Nigerian govt are hoping to achieve from this unprovoked attack against IPOB;
1. Kill members of IPOB in an unprovoked attack.
2. Cause rage and anger among IPOB members to the point of carrying arms.
3. Use no.2 as leverage to commit mass genocide against IPOB members
This is the strategy Nigerian army used against Shiites that lead to the massacre of ZARKZAKY followers by Nigerian army on the 14th dec 2015 in Kaduna. Till date those who killed hundreds of innocent shiites in cold blood have not been brought to book. This is to tell you that what happen to shiites in Kaduna was not an isolated event, It was carefully planned and executed by Nigerian govt. This is the same strategy they are trying to use on IPOB.
Note that even before Kanu was released, Nigerian govt had been trying for months without success to label IPOB a violent group.
