The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, yesterday condemned what it called “state-sponsored terrorism against the Igbo and barbaric attacks going on all over the south-east states in the name of provision of security to the people.
IPOB, in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said it is shocking that some Igbo governors will invite the police and army from different formations in the country to invade states in the South East in the name of providing security to the people, without taking time to monitor whether the operatives are actually providing security or extorting money from the people.
The statement read: “IPOB, under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wishes to condemn the attacks going on all over the southeast states. This state-sponsored terrorism against innocent civilian population is being executed in Imo, Anambra and Abia states.
“It is shocking that some Igbo governors will invite police and army formations to execute their fellow citizens in cold blood because they want to please their Arewa masters that rigged them into office. They extort money by intimidation and in some cases, kill their victims and brand them armed robbers for failing to give them money.
“It is unacceptable that the Army and Police are still attacking and killing innocent and law abiding citizens in Umuahia and Owerri for some weeks despite Amnesty International’s report indicting the governors and the army leadership.”
IPOB alleged that: ”Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha are the two governors responsible for importing ‘blood-thirsty’ policemen and soldiers from the North to kill our people in cold blood, and warn them to desist from that act or they will be held responsible and accountable for the crimes against humanity.
“This perception that security personnel can come, kill, extort from as many people as possible in our land and get away with it is very damaging to our collective psyche as a people, and we will not accept it any longer.
“Well-meaning people are at a loss to understand how a supposedly democratically elected governors in the south east can allow such a murderous band of blood thirsty men in uniforms to be killing and terrorizing innocent people at will in their respective states, and when IPOB declared no election in all the states of Igboland, starting with Anambra gubernatorial election on November 18, many people may not understand why we are saying that.
“The entire world must be made aware of the fact that governors in the South East are not actually in charge of security matters. Our promise to these collaborators and their Arewa masters is that we, IPOB will continue to push for the restoration of Biafra until we secure independence from this British-created geographical hell-hole in the name of a country.”
