According to an eyewitness:
Pls be informed that a soldier of 343 ARTILLERY REGIMENT of rank WARRANT OFFICER (WO) ESSANG OKON attached to a duty location at Iju was caught in a fire fight at about 050010A Aug 7 in an ambush operation supporting militants against Operation Delta Safe OPDS troops.
He was demobilized as he was shot in the leg by own troops . Efforts are ongoing to unravel the circumstances that led to the soldier been found at the scene and time on mufti without a military Identity card.
