Nigerians react to Cross River Deputy Gov, Esu holding umbrella for Ayade [PHOTO]

A photo of Cross River State Deputy Governor, Professor Ivara Esu, holding an umbrella has emerged online.

But the photo is currently trending not just because Esu held a parasol, but many are wondering why he used it to cover Governor Ben Ayade.

Though the umbrella appears to cover both men, commentators on social media say the image shows an example of being powerful.

They also argued Esu is many years older than the governor and that an aide of either men could have held the umbrella.

Ivara Esu (OFR), a Professor of Soil Science, was the Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar, between January 2000 and August 2005.

On Twitter, Inyali Peter @InyaliPeter wrote: ”70 years C’River deputy Gov covering 49 years old Gov Ayade umbrella while the Gov discusses.”

Imam Imam @imamdimam wrote ”So a 49yr old Dep Gov is holding an umbrella for a 47yr old Governor in Cross River State. Who says Africans no get respect for power?”

On Facebook, Okeke Godwin Iyke, said: ”69 years old Deputy Governor of Cross-River carrying umbrella for 49 years old Governor Ayade. This is a whole Professor and former VC. Power is a bastard. SMH.”

Isaac Moon wrote: ”If Osibajo and Buhari come out from plane and na only one umbrella dey, VP go carry cova presido. That’s power for u.”
