A Presidential source has disclosed to TM News, that the cabals in the presidency, almost stopped Acting President Yemi Osinbajo from reading the May 29 Democracy Day speech until President Muhammadu Buhari had to vet and give his approval.
TM News authoritatively report that Osinbajo tactically begged the cabals in the presidency to be allowed to read the speech but they insisted on first transmitting the script to the United Kingdom where the President is receiving treatment and had to wait till about 2am in the morning (May 29) when the approval was given.
According to the source, the President delay in approval contributed to the way and manner the speech was read as the Acting President had little time to prepare.
He also said the necessary equipment (Outside Broadcasting Van) OB van, needed to transmit the speech, life effectively did not arrive as at when due to the short notice, and as such, Osinbajo had to read the speech they way and manner he could.
Recall that TM News had reported that the President was scheduled to return back to the country on May 28, to be able to deliver the May 29 speech but all effort to achieve the feat, proved abortive, as Osinbajo who was not prepared became the only option.
The presidential source said, “the Acting President later got the permission to read the speech by 2am on that day after he tactically begged and pressed for it.
“That is why you see the speech wasn’t recorded in the way it used to be, there was no OB Van, nothing, He just read it just like that” the presidential source disclosed.
TM News had earlier reported the move by cabals in the presidential palace to undermine the constitutional powers of the Acting President at Buhari’s absence.
Buhari flew out of the country on May 7, 2017 and transmitted a letter to the National Assembly, seeking to temporarily transfer to the Vice President.
The letter which described the Vice President as “coordinator of the government” has been interpreted as a plot to reduce his powers, with the said cabals believed to be the architects.
Report had alleged that decision to use the phrase, “the Vice President will coordinate the activities of the Government,” instead of expressing what the Constitution stipulates, that the Vice President becomes “Acting President” with the transmission of the letter, was singularly taken by Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.
