Order From Above: Nnamdi Kanu Banned From Receiving Visitors

IPOB said Kanu’s visitors have continued to face harassment from security operatives stationed at the Kuje Prison.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has decried the alleged plan by officials of the Nigerian Prison Service to ban its leader Nnamdi Kanu from receiving visitors in Kuje Prison.

IPOB said Kanu’s visitors have continued to face harassment from security operatives stationed at the Kuje Prison.

A statement by its media and publicity secretary Powerful Emma said all relatives and associates of their leader were turned back on Friday, April 7.

NAIJ.com gathered that Emma the visitors were further asked to get clearance from the Abuja headquarters of the Nigerian Prisons Service before they can see Kanu.

Emma said: “Information reaching us this morning has it that visitors are no longer allowed to see the IPOB leader Maxi Nnamdi Kanu and his fellow freedom fighters namely Benjamin Madubugwu, Chidiebere Onwudiwe and David Nwawuisi, except they get clearance forms from the prison headquarters Abuja.”

“The legal and constitutional procedure that every visitor has followed right from the onset is to fill some form at the Kuje prison gate with the passport photograph and submitted to the security at the entrance for verification before the visitor is granted entry.

He said the old procedure which had been applicable to Kanu and other inmates at the facilities was changed this morning.

“We are also aware that the devious Nigerian government is up-to it again this time. They have never relented in plotting some vices to get at the IPOB leader, his fellow freedom fighters and Biafra at large. The recent being the assassination attempt on Nnamdi Kanu on several occasion to his life and on the recent plot to his life and on his way to the court yesterday being the 6th of April which however failed woefully,” Emma said

He further alleged that the aim of the ban is to frustrate visitors and ensure that Kanu is completely cut off from friends and relatives.

“There are other inmates in kuje prison but why are only Nnamdi kanu’s visitors always either denied access to see him, harassed and embarrassed, or even manhandled while visitors for other inmates encounter no challenges at all?” Emma asked

“It is now so obvious and indisputable that this is a case of the Northern Muslim’s against the Christians. The president of Nigeria republic, Major General Mohammad Buhari is a hardcore Northern Muslim, the prosecutor on the the ongoing IPOB case Mogaji Labaran and the judge, Binta Nyako, also a hardcore Northern Muslim.

“Why should it be this way?

“For how long will this injustice and inhumane treatment last?

“Currently, a good number of innocent people are at Kuje prison this morning waiting to see their amiable leader and brother Nnamdi Kanu but they have been denied access,” he said.

“The leader of the indigenous people of Biafra Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a prophet of our time and very popular to mankind around the globe which no man born of a woman can stop because he is a prophecy of 400 years ago.

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court had earlier said she will not vary her order given for the protection of security operatives who would testify against Kanu in the matter.
