Assemblies Of God!! Why Police IG, Idris Must Enforce Supreme Court Judgement – Ubani

Counsel for the Assemblies of God Church Nigeria, Onyekachi Ubani, has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to enforce the Supreme Court ruling which ousted Reverend Paul Emeka as the General Superintendent of the church

Ubani said the intervention of the police boss in the lingering leadership crisis will restore normalcy and make the church take over its properties from from the ousted Superintendent.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos, Ubani frowned at the action of the police which had decided that the church Secretariat in Enugu State remained closed.

The church’s counsel also expressed displeasure over the fact that Emeka, who was sacked by the Apex court, was still parading himself as the General Superintendent of the church and still occupying the church’s property.

Ubani also warned of possible breakdown of law and order over Emeka’s insistence on being the church’s leader.

According to Ubani, “I implore the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to carry out the judgment of the Supreme Court by letting the church repossess the Secretariat of the AGN in Enugu.
“And he (Emeka) should vacate all other properties scattered all over Nigeria which he has sat upon based upon the erroneous judgment of the Enugu State High Court which the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court have all nullified.

“We do not want a breakdown of law and order in the church; as a foremost Pentecostal church in Nigeria, they cannot be seen to employ unorthodox method in resolving what rightfully belongs to them.

The media was recently awash with reports that the Supreme Court had ratified Emeka’s suspension by the General Executive Committee of the Church.

Despite the Supreme Court ruling, Emeka had declared that he remains the ‘authentic General Superintendent’ of the church.
