A Turkish Islamic leader has been suspended after ‘pieces of cucumber’ were found shoved up his bum.
The 39-year-old ‘imam’, who has not been identified was rushed to the emergency room complaining of severe abdominal pain and bleeding from his anus.
He was admitted to hospital on June 23, but was kept overnight as doctors treated his anal-injuries.
According to Hurriyet Daily News, a ‘crack team’ of medics in Turkey agreed that the “bleeding in the anus and rectum and foreign object in the rectum”.
The man, from the central Anatolian province, was discharged on June 24 after treatment. Thereafter, he was given the suspension by a local branch of the Religious Affairs Directorate.
A leaked hospital report revealed the vegetable-related scandal which led to the man’s suspension by a local branch of the Religious Affairs Directorate.
However, Istanbul’s Chamber of Doctors has slammed the leaking of the medical report and called the man’s suspension “unacceptable”.
