Why Buhari Fired The Army From Aso Rock!
By: Joseph Imo
Dear fellow Nigerians,
So I was just scrolling through Igbere TV’s front page opening tabs to read when I saw an headline stating that our President Muhammadu Buhari had fired all of his Army bodyguards from Aso Villa and had replaced them with DSS agents before leaving to the UK for treatment and I remembered what had been in my head last night. And then the thought occurred to me that President Buhari might have obviously planned his travel very well as he never planned to return in ten days. He knew that after ten days had elapsed that he would postpone his stay and that all these death controversies of him would arise like during the time of Lt. President Yar’Adua. The people obviously would think and say that he is weak and will soon die questioning his legitimacy. So just like what happened back in 1966 by Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu, the president had obviously took this step to reduce the influence of the military in his administration before embarking on his journey in fear of a military coup in the country. Because that is exactly what happened after President Nnamdi Azikiwe had left the country in 1965 and in 1966 a coup had taken place before his return at that time the senate President was the acting president. By so doing even if he extends his stay, such an action will be an uneasy one. I might be right and so also I might be wrong. So what are your thoughts on this? Could president Buhari had been advised to carry out this move to secure power?
This is just my opinion.
