House-help discharged for theft of employer’s 3 smartphones... Read what the employer did

A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Monday discharged a 22-year-old house help, Monica Musa, who was alleged to have stolen her employer’s three cell phones valued at N97, 000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Helen Danboyi, discharged Musa after her employer told the court that he was no longer interested in the case.

“The accused is hereby discharged and acquitted,’’ she said.

Musa a resident of Tudun Wada, Jos, was facing a two- count charge of breach of trust and theft.

Earlier, the prosecutor, CPL Karimu Bashiru told the court that one Saleh Markurs reported the case at the Anglo Jos police station on November 28, 2016.

He said the accused, who had the responsibility to sweep and clean the house, allegedly stole his two Infinix note phones valued at N38, 000 each and a Tecno phone valued at N15, 000.

The offences contravened Sections 322 and 287 of Plateau State Law.

The accused had, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
