Police in Ogun State have arrested a 21-year-old butcher, Selim Ayodele, over the death of his 26-year-old colleague, Ibrahim Wasiu, following an argument at their workplace in Alagbole.

The incident reportedly happened on October 18, 2026, after the two men finished their work at a cow meat-selling shop.
According to preliminary police findings, the disagreement started over who should sweep the floor.
The argument allegedly became violent, with Ayodele accused of picking up a knife and stabbing Wasiu in the left side of his chest.
The injured butcher was rushed to Life Hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.
His body was later taken to a private mortuary in the Ajuwon area for an autopsy.
Police arrest suspect
The incident was reported at Ajuwon Police Station at about 8pm, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
The Ogun State Police Command said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the commandβs commitment to investigating the case and pursuing prosecution in accordance with the law.
Police also urged residents to exercise restraint during disagreements and resolve disputes peacefully rather than resorting to violence.
Investigation continues
The death has raised concerns about how a disagreement over a routine workplace task allegedly escalated into a fatal incident.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
Ayodele has not been convicted, and the allegation must be tested through the legal process.
The police are expected to establish the full circumstances of the incident before the case proceeds further.
