Traditional rulers in Abam Clan of Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State have reaffirmed their support for Governor Alex Otti’s administration, distancing themselves from what they described as unauthorised statements allegedly made against the governor and some of his appointees from the area.
The monarchs, known as Ndi Eze Ogo, operating under the Forum of Ndi Eze Ogo in the 32 villages of Abam, said individuals circulating such remarks neither represented the traditional institution nor had the mandate to speak on behalf of the clan.
Chairman of the forum, Eze Ogo Uka Oji, who spoke against the backdrop of reports alleging dissatisfaction among some people of Abam over certain government decisions, said anyone making unguarded comments against the governor or his aides lacked the authority to represent the community.
Oji, who is also the Eze Ogo of Ndioji Abam, said the traditional rulers and people of Abam remained united in their support for the Otti administration, urging the public to disregard contrary claims.
“We did not send anybody to speak for us. Those making unguarded remarks against the Governor or his aides lack the mandate to speak for the people. They are on their own,” he said.
The monarch commended Governor Otti for his administration’s infrastructure and development projects across the state, particularly those executed in Abam.
He cited the reconstruction of the Omenuko Bridge and the rehabilitation of the Abam–Ndioji–Ndiokereke–Arochukwu Road as major interventions that had improved access to the area and eased movement for residents and visitors.
According to him, the projects had addressed longstanding infrastructure challenges and delivered tangible benefits to communities within the clan.
Eze Oji also dismissed reports suggesting that Abam people were dissatisfied with the governor or his appointees from the area, describing such claims as unfounded.
He alleged that those behind the reports were attempting to create unnecessary tension between the community and the state government, insisting that the claims did not represent the position of the people.
The traditional ruler said the forum would continue to support the governor’s development initiatives, which he said had placed Abia on the path of growth.
He urged Governor Otti to sustain the momentum of infrastructure development and other programmes across the state, assuring him of the continued cooperation of the traditional institution.
The forum stressed that its official position would only be communicated through its recognised leadership and advised the public to disregard statements from individuals claiming to speak on behalf of Abam without authorisation.
Meanwhile, the monarchs commended Governor Otti’s appointees from Abam, as well as Chief James Chijoke Ume (Ike Abam), for their contributions to the administration’s achievements, urging them to remain committed to supporting the governor.
