The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Command has warned motorists against wrongful parking on highways to prevent crashes.
Dr Samuel Ibitoye, State Sector Commander, FRSC, gave the warning during the command’s Community Social Responsibilities(CSR) programme held on Thursday at Shasha area of Akure.

Ibitoye said that the two-day programme was part of the management drives to ensure smooth traffic on highways across the country.
He explained that the CSR was also to enlighten motorists on the need to allow free flow of traffic on highways.
According to him, the exercise is directed at the people, motorists and road users toward making an impact on road usage.
“We have removed broken vehicles on the road so that people can move smoothly and crashes can be reduced or avoided in some instances.
“We’re also removing anything that can hinder free flow of vehicles even filling of potholes, cutting trees that create shade obstruction on the highways, as well as clearing gutters for free flow of water.
“This is to tell Nigerians that we are not going out to book or sanction, but we are also going out to make impact.
“The end point of this, is that, we want to reduce crashes, we want to allow traffic flow and to make people know that we’re out to care for them,” he said.
The sector commander appealed to motorist fond of parking indiscriminately on highways to desist or face prosecution.
Mr Kolade Ogundare, a driver, commended the FRSC for the initiative, calling for more of the such exercise on all highways.
