Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has celebrated former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, on his 70th birthday, applauding his role in transforming the state into a hub for business and investment.
In a goodwill message dated March 20, 2026, and sent to Daniel’s office in Maryland, Lagos, Dangote commended the former governor for establishing policies and conditions that encouraged enterprise and attracted investors to Ogun State.

According to him, the business-friendly environment created during Daniel’s administration significantly contributed to the success of his company’s operations in the state.
“Thanks to you, a conducive business environment was created in Ogun State, allowing our collaboration to grow over the years as partners in value creation,” Dangote stated in the message issued on behalf of his family, board, management, and staff.
Reflecting on their relationship of over 30 years, Dangote described Daniel—fondly known as OGD—as a dependable ally, a calm and inspiring leader, and a trusted adviser whose insights have remained valuable over time.
He also highlighted the cordial relationship between their families, acknowledging Daniel’s wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel, and the broader Daniel family.
Daniel served as Ogun State governor from 2003 to 2011 and currently represents Ogun East in the Senate.
