₦6 Trillion NDDC Loot: Publish their Names - Federal High court orders FG

It has been over four weeks since the Federal High Court Abuja ordered the federal government to publish the names of individuals indicted in the misappropriation and diversion of N6 trillion at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Gladys Olotu of the Federal High Court in Abuja delivered the judgment on November 10. She ordered Bola Tinubu and Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation, to release the NDDC forensic audit report and publish the names of those indicted in the diversion of funds.

In a letter dated December 13, SERAP accused the AGF of failing to enforce the judgment. The letter was signed by Kolawole Oluwadare, the organisation’s deputy director.

The organisation said the refusal of the Federal Government to publish the report violates Section 287(1) of the 1999 Constitution, which requires all authorities to enforce court judgments.

Justice Olotu had held that the forensic audit report and the names of those indicted are public records under Section 31 of the Freedom of Information Act.The court also held that the refusal to publish the report breaches statutory duties under the FOI Act and Section 15(5) of the Constitution, which mandates the state to abolish corrupt practices.
