During a plenary session of the Nigerian Senate on 26 November, Senator Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South) showed Senate President Godswill Akpabio a video on his phone allegedly depicting bullets spilling onto the road from a truck loaded with ammunition along the Zaria–Sokoto Road.

The action formed part of a motion by Senator Maidoki to draw the Senate’s urgent attention to the severe security challenges and persistent banditry in the region. Using the visual evidence, the senator emphasized the gravity of the situation and highlighted the apparent ease with which dangerous weapons are being transported, signaling a breakdown in security enforcement.
This follows GlimpseTV’s report yesterday about a truck spilling bullets on the main road in Zaria, causing alarm among residents.
In reaction to the video during the plenary session, Senate President Akpabio paused in shock and addressed the house, noting that a senator had just shown him another video. He immediately asked whether the vehicle had been apprehended and suggested contacting the Commissioner of Police to dispatch a team to escort the trailer safely.
Still reflecting on the incident, he said:
“I think we should stop discussing this matter and go into prayers because there’s a lot of work to be done.”
He also urged a senator who was about to speak to hold his remarks, stressing that the bullets on the ground needed urgent attention to prevent them from falling into the hands of bandits.
