A woman identified As Mrs Rukayat Akinbode is appealing to the public for help in locating her 17-year-old daughter, Hameedah, who is currently missing.
It was gathered that the teenager has been missing since she left her parents’ residence at Baale Bus Stop in the Bariga area of the state on October 20, 2024.
Although unconfirmed reports suggested that the missing girl might have left home for an Islamic programme, her distraught mother explained that Hameedah had told them she was going to visit a friend in Oshodi during an Islamic programme in the area.
Our correspondent learnt that concerns grew within the family when Hameedah failed to return home that same day.
“She’s my first child. She told us on Sunday morning that she was going to Oshodi to give something to a friend. She was at our mosque that morning before she left.
“When she arrived, she said she was heading to Oshodi and told her friends she’d be back shortly. I have no information about the person she said she was going to see.
“We reported the case at the Ifako Police Station and have also visited Area F and Zone 2 headquarters,” said the mother.
She urged anyone with information that could help locate her to contact the nearest police station.
When contacted on Sunday, Zone 2 command spokesperson Ayuba Ummah told our correspondent that she was unaware of the report but promised to look into it.
“I’m not privy to the report, but I will find out,” Ummah simply stated on Sunday evening.
