Rivers House Of Assembly Saga: Nigerians Demand Accountability From The Judiciary - JAD

The Joint Action for Democracy (JAD) has raised the alarm on the compromising of Nigeria’s judicial system, citing blatant political interference and inconsistencies in court rulings. This concern stems from a shocking video featuring Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule and others openly defecting to the APC.

“The judiciary, once the last bastion of hope for justice, is now being manipulated by politicians seeking to undermine democracy,” said Peter Ameh, JAD’s national coordinator. “This brazen disregard for the law must be checked.”

“The Rivers State House of Assembly saga exemplifies this issue. 27 lawmakers, loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom, defected without any intra-party crisis, contravening established legal precedents.” JAD insists that their seats should be vacated as prescribed by law.

With the case now before the Supreme Court, JAD implores Nigerians, particularly Rivers State residents, to demand impartiality and transparency. “The Supreme Court must safeguard Nigeria’s judicial integrity and prevent chaos in Rivers State,” Ameh emphasized.
